Who is Sharik?

Sharik Atkinson (she/they) is a Brooklyn-based film director and community organizer whose work amplifies queer and BIPOC voices.

As the founder of The Content House BK, a production company led entirely by Black women, Sharik creates films, series, and branded content that tell bold, culturally resonant stories. Recent projects include a spec commercial for Urban Outfitters, a commercial for Carolina Herrera, the queer short film Echoes of Us, the web series We Kissed Once, and the TV pilot Man Hating Lesbians.

Sharik has also contributed to productions like Law & Order: SVU, NBCU’s Genie, and Netflix’s Manifest. Her work has been featured in interviews with Spectrum News, How She Did It, Black Bi Reality, and others, and she has spoken to students at UC Berkeley. Through Saphlicks, Sharik cultivates a supportive, collaborative space for queer filmmakers, fostering community and connection through curated events, screenings, and workshops.
